Perhaps the best way to deal with a negative situation is to make it a positive. Of course this isn’t always possible, but we should try to make the best of any situation that comes our way.
The lock-down due to the Corona virus affects everybody to some degree. Even those already living in isolation found that the regular services they relied on were altered. It is something that everybody has had to adjust to. Wearing face masks in public is once obvious change.
Face masks are mandatory in a few places, and highly recommended in others. Given that they offer at least some protection from airborne viruses they are worth using. We basically have a choice between disposable paper masks or reusable cloth masks.
Why are cloth face masks sometimes preferable? Well the obvious answer is that they are reusable. This is both a cost saving for us, and an advantage for medical/dental industries because we are not using their resources. Medical/dental personae need a disposable mask for each patient. Whereas private citizens can wear the same mask all day, and wash it latter on. So cloth masks are the better option for private citizens.
Another advantage of cloth masks is that they can be decorated, or at least made in different colours, we are not stuck with the blue/green masks that everybody else is wearing.
Cloth masks can be personalized with embroidery. And there is no limit to what can be embroidered, as long as you have enough space. Have the mask that suits your personality, or profession. Or just have something distinct so you don’t accidentally pick up somebody else’s mask by mistake.
We may have no choice about wearing a mask. But we can choose to have our mask personalized.
